Dr. Priest, National Geographic: Too much family togetherness might be stressing out kids

Can too much family togetherness be stressful for kids? It’s a new sort of question that’s come up in the last year, as many families have lived their lives in one shared space. And some parents might be worried, watching their kids turn inwards or hear them ask for privacy. But, as Jacob points out in a new piece for National Geographic, alone time may be a healthy necessity for kids, in the face of so much together time. In fact, getting some quiet time may be necessary for kids to recharge - just like it can be for adults! As Jacob shares, “Healthy family relationships are built on time together, but also time apart. When physical space is constrained, our need for more emotional space grows.”
